British Swim School Opens New Location in Kitchener on August 27

North America’s Premier ‘Learn to Swim’ Provider Continues Canadian Expansion

British Swim School, the North American leader of “learn to swim” franchise programs, is pleased to announce the opening of a new franchise location in Kitchener at the Courtyard by Marriott-Kitchener, 2690 King Street East. Franchise owners Marcel and Lisa Ferreira are excited to open their first location with the British Swim School family to spread awareness about the importance of swim safety and offer a safe and convenient location for Kitchener residents to learn how to swim, especially with families and children seeking after school programs as school returns to session in September.

British Swim School continues to expand its footprint in Canada, with swim lessons currently being offered in 21 locations in Ontario bringing the total to 22 with this new opening.

This new pool location is conveniently located in the Courtyard by Marriott-Kitchener where the team is ready to teach life-saving swimming skills to children (and adults!) in a fun and safe environment taught by trained swimming instructors – something owners Marcel and Lisa are passionate about. The pair is also opening a second pool location in Cambridge at the Fairview Seniors Community in September.

Marcel and Lisa Ferreira are a married couple, business partners, and school educators. With over 30 years of experience as a swim instructor at the Toronto District School Board, Marcel has honed his skills as a seasoned swim instructor. Complementing his expertise, Lisa has made her mark as an elementary teacher and has taught at the Halton District School board for over 8 years. The dynamic duo, who have a passion for teaching and educating children, have three adult children who have always participated in sports growing up. Along with their desire to continue educating, the Ferreira’s strongly resonated with the British Swim School franchise model which supports not only swimming lessons, but survival skills and programming designed for all ages and learning types.

British Swim School offers a three-part curriculum teaching children, as young as three months and
adults of all ages water acclimation, safety and survival skills, and swim stroke development. While parental supervision remains the foremost safety measure, research shows that participating in formal swim programs, such as those offered by British Swim School, can reduce the risk of drowning by 88% among children who are most at risk for deaths caused by drowning.
