British Swim School Opens New Location in Mississauga

North America’s Premier ‘Learn to Swim’ Provider Continues Canadian Expansion

British Swim School, the North American leader of “learn to swim” franchise programs, is pleased to announce the opening of a new franchise location at Wynn Fitness Meadowvale (6750 Mississauga Road). Franchise owner Kalaine Uddenberg is excited to open her fourth British Swim School franchise location in the area to spread awareness about the importance of swim safety and offer an additional safe and convenient location for Mississauga and Toronto residents to learn to swim.
“Swimming has always been a big part of my life and British Swim School aligns with my passion of teaching,” said Kalaine Uddenberg, owner of British Swim School of Mississauga. “I am proud to be expanding alongside British Swim School with my fourth pool location. Our mission is to empower every student, regardless of age, with the confidence to feel comfortable in the water and learn lifelong water safety and survival skills.”

The new pool location is conveniently located at Wynn Fitness Meadowvale. The team is eager and ready to impart life-saving swimming skills to children (and adults!) in a fun and safe environment taught by trained swimming instructors – something owner and entrepreneur, Kalaine, is passionate about. British Swim School of Mississauga has three other swim schools at 4561 Hurontario Street, at 3055 Vega Boulevard in Mississauga and at 225 Fletchers Creek Boulevard in Brampton.

Uddenberg was the company’s aquatics director prior to becoming an owner. Previously an elementary school teacher at the Toronto District School Board for over a decade, Uddenberg is also a trained lifeguard and lifelong swim safety advocate. As the owner of four locations in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), Uddenberg advocates for inclusivity at her pools to make families and children feel comfortable while learning safety and survival skills, water acclamation, and swim stroke development.

"We are thrilled to continue expanding British Swim Schools across the GTA with Kalaine,” said Ashley Gundlach, President of British Swim School. "She has shown her commitment to our corporate values and mission-driven concept to teach children water survival skills and help reduce the number of accidental drownings. We are excited for her newest pool location and know that she’ll be successful in this next stage of growth.”
British Swim School offers a three-part curriculum teaching children, as young as three months and adults of all ages water acclimation, safety and survival skills, and swim stroke development. While parental supervision remains the foremost safety measure, research shows that participating in formal swim programs, such as those offered by British Swim School, can reduce the risk of drowning by 88% among children who are most at risk for deaths caused by drowning.
