British Swim School Opens Newest Franchise Location in Edmonton, Alberta

North America’s Premier ‘Learn to Swim’ Provider Continues Canadian Expansion

British Swim School, the North American leader of “learn to swim” franchise programs, is pleased to announce the opening of its newest location in Edmonton, Alberta at The Valhalla conveniently located at 11307 99 Ave, bringing the total number of British Swim School locations in Edmonton to three. Franchise owner Judith Mbeleke is excited to bring the renowned swim program to her hometown to serve her community. With the opening of its sixth location, British Swim School continues to expand its footprint in Canada, with swim lessons currently being offered in twelve locations. British Swim School at The Valhalla officially opens on Monday, September 26.

“Becoming a British Swim School franchisee is a great opportunity for me to do something I love and help save lives,” said Judith Mbeleke, owner of British Swim School of Edmonton East. “Being safe in the water is a skill everyone should have and I’m thrilled to be a part of teaching the community how to swim here in Edmonton.”

The opening of British Swim School at The Valhalla is conveniently located to teach life-saving swimming skills to children (and adults!) throughout Canada in a fun and safe environment taught by trained swimming instructors – something owner and entrepreneur Judith is passionate about.

Born and raised in Cameroon, Africa, where the majority of residents, including children, do not know how to swim, Judith knows all too well the importance of learning safe water skills from a young age to prevent accidental drownings. As a mom to three young daughters who all learned to swim in Canada, becoming a British Swim School franchisee aligns with Judith’s values and beliefs surrounding the significance of water safety.

"Judith is a wonderful addition to the British Swim School family and a tremendous advocate of the importance of teaching children how to swim from a young age,” said Ashley Gundlach, British Swim School President. “In addition to being a savvy female entrepreneur, Judith also shares our corporate values and believes in our mission-driven concept to teach children water survival skills and help reduce the number of accidental drownings. We are excited to officially welcome her to our family and wish her great success.”

British Swim School offers a three-part curriculum teaching children and adults of all ages - some as young as three months - water acclimation, safety, and survival skills, and swim stroke development. While parental supervision is always the number one safety measure, research shows that participating in formal swim programs, such as those offered by British Swim School, can reduce the risk of drowning by 88% among children who are most at risk for deaths caused by drowning.
