British Swim School Makes a Splash Amidst the Pandemic
November 18, 2020
Nation’s Premier “Learn to Swim” Provider Opens Five Schools across Five States in 2020 and Looks to Further Expansion in the New Year!
British Swim School, the nation’s leading “learn to swim” franchise organization, is celebrating an exciting year of growth despite a pandemic that caused its locations to temporarily close this spring. The company is opening five new locations in five states during 2020, including Boston, Detroit, San Francisco, Melbourne, FL and Virginia Beach. The Virginia Beach swim school becomes the first location to operate in the same city as British Swim School’s corporate office.
Each new location is either up and running or set to open before the close of 2020. They will join the ~100 other swim schools that have been able to reopen safely, providing a much-needed physical activity for children and families cooped up at home during the pandemic.
“I’m proud of what our franchise owners have accomplished this year, especially considering the tough circumstances each of them has faced,” said Brian Garrison, British Swim School President. “We used strict safety measures to reopen many of our locations, and it’s exciting to see new owners expanding the footprint.”
British Swim School is operating pools with the utmost consideration for the health and well-being of their students, families and staff. During the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, the team launched their British Swim School Cares Campaign™, developed in consultation with industry experts and recommendations put forth by the CDC and OSHA, as well as the guidance of state and local leaders. The BSS Cares Campaign™ includes measures for social distancing on the pool deck, face shield requirements for instructors, hand sanitizer stations and staggered class times. To date, there has not been a single case of COVID-19 spread traced back to a British Swim School swim lesson.
As the pandemic continues, British Swim School understands the need for safe, fun and educational activities for kids - and communities are recognizing that learn-to-swim programs are an essential service that cannot be offered online. That’s why British Swim School is currently looking for new owners to continue the momentum of 2020 and is offering its most aggressive incentives ever in an effort to expand into new regions and provide lifesaving skills to a larger number of people. Among the end of year incentives is the opportunity to get three territories for the price of two.
“This year has really caused entrepreneurs and like-minded individuals to think about their future,” said Garrison. “The British Swim School model represents a great investment and provides the flexibility many families are looking for in a small business, while making a measurable difference in their communities.”
British Swim School, an elite local swim school franchise, launched in England in 1981. It was then brought to the United States and Canada and eventually rolled out to more than 200 pools, serving thousands of customers each week.
Research shows that participation in formal swim programs, such as those offered by British Swim School, can reduce the risk of drowning by 88% among children who are most at risk for accidental death by drowning.
