British Swim School Expands Franchise in Pennsylvania

The Nation’s Premier ‘Learn to Swim’ Provider Opens New Location in Montgomery County

British Swim School, the nation’s leading “learn to swim” franchise company, expands its presence in Pennsylvania with the opening of its fourth franchise in the state, with swim lessons currently being offered in fourteen locations. Pennsylvania natives Kim Lessig and Bob Kane are the new owners of British Swim School of Montgomery County — they grew up in the area and are excited to welcome students of all ages who will learn the signature survival skills and basic stroke development British Swim School is known for.   The new owners plan to host their swim lessons at the pools located inside the LA Fitness in Pottstown and the Staybridge Suites Hotel in Royersford. With three children between them, Lessig and Kane share a desire to bring quality year-round swim lessons to the region.
“There is an unmet demand in this area. We know this from our own experience when trying to sign our children up for swim lessons,” said Kim Lessig, owner of British Swim School of Montgomery County. “I’m thrilled that through this business, we will fill this void in such a meaningful way for our community.”
British Swim School offers a three-part curriculum teaching children and adults of all ages, some as young as three months, water acclimation, safety and survival skills, and swim stroke development. While parental supervision is always the number one safety measure, research shows that participation in formal swim programs, such as those offered by British Swim School, can reduce the risk of drowning by 88 percent among children who are most at risk for deaths caused by drowning.
Lessig looks forward to providing peace of mind to local parents. “As a parent myself, I know that heart stopping fear of being around water with a child who doesn’t know how to swim. I am beyond grateful to be able to give parents and caregivers some peace of mind through survival-based swim lessons.”
As a first-time business owner, Lessig also appreciates the process British Swim School has in place to open a franchise.
“British Swim School has an extensive program and a rationale for the how and the why of everything we do, which is really important – especially to someone who has never owned a business. But more than that, I really appreciate the culture and the way that they go about guiding me through every step of this business building process. The mission, Survival of the Littlest, is more than just words posted up on a wall. It comes across during every interaction with any of the British school team members.”
Lessig and Kane join the growing team of franchise owners that operate the more than 250 British Swim Schools across the United States and Canada.
"We’re excited to have Kim Lessig and Bob Kane join the British Swim School family," said Ashley Gundlach, British Swim School President. “We believe in our mission driven concept to teach children water survival skills and help reduce the number of accidental drownings, and we love when new franchise owners come on board who are just as passionate and enthusiastic as we are. We can’t wait for Kim and Bob to make a splash in PA!”
