The Nation’s Premier ‘Learn to Swim’ Provider to Open New Location in Chandler
British Swim School, the nation’s leading “learn to swim” franchise company, continues its rapid expansion across North America with the opening of its newest franchise British Swim School of The Valley, located in Chandler, Arizona.
Sarah Burke will operate the location with help from her daughter Addison. The educator says she feels a connection with her community, and is looking forward to offering vital swim safety instruction, along with help from her soon-to-be high school graduate daughter.
“We live in the area where I've worked as a music and theater teacher for 13 years - as a result, I feel a strong connection to the families in my community,” said Burke. “My daughter is graduating high school this year and aspires to teach swimming as a career. Becoming a British Swim School franchisee is my way of supporting her dreams and investing in her future. It's something she is very passionate about and loves doing.”
For more than 40 years, British Swim School has been dedicated to teaching water survival skills by teaching infants, children, and adults of all ages the skills needed for water acclimation, water survival, and stroke development. Its mission — ensure that every person, regardless of age or ability, has the opportunity to become a safe and happy swimmer.
Across the nation, 11 people die every day from unintentional drownings, with nearly 4,000 deaths occurring each year. Research shows that participation in formal swim programs, such as those offered by British Swim School, can reduce the risk of drowning by 88% among children who are most at risk for deaths caused by drowning. However, the risk of drowning isn’t limited to children: a Red Cross survey found that more than half of all Americans (54%) either can’t swim or don’t have the basic swimming skills needed to save themselves in the event of a water emergency.
Burke said she recognizes the importance of water safety and the responsibility that comes with owning a British Swim School franchise.
“We strive to make sure our students will learn how to help themselves and others in all situations that involve water,” she insisted. “We hope to ensure that everyone who enrolls in our lessons will enjoy learning how to be safe in and around the water.”
British Swim School President Ashley Gundlach welcomes the newest franchisee and is thrilled that Burke’s goals are in concert with the company.
“Sarah understands the importance of swim safety and the core of our mission,” she said. “She’s also had over 10 years of experience in education within the Valley, so she’s able to connect easily with younger students. The fact that she’s opening this business to help her daughter pursue her own aspirations within the swim community is inspiring! We are excited to continue to bring our effective and unique brand of swim safety education to the region.”
