The Nation’s Premier ‘Learn to Swim’ Provider Extends Reach with Loudoun County Opening
British Swim School, the nation’s leading “learn to swim” franchise company, continues its meticulous growth across North America with the opening of its newest franchise location in Ashburn, Virginia at the LA Fitness - Broadlands Center Plaza at 43150 Broadlands Center Plaza, Suite 138. Loudoun county residents and new owners Carlos and Laura Hasbun are looking forward to joining the local business community. Carlos has a diverse academic background, having studied agriculture, animal science, marine biodiversity, and molecular ecology. Meanwhile, Laura is a Doctor of Medicine specializing in family practice.“We chose British Swim School as a way to have a positive impact in the area we call our home,” said Carlos. “British Swim School's efforts to help families become water safe resonates with us - we see this as a way to help our community.”For more than 40 years, British Swim School has been dedicated to teaching water survival skills by teaching infants, children, and adults of all ages the skills needed for water acclimation, water survival, and stroke development. Its mission — ensure that every person, regardless of age or ability, has the opportunity to become a safe and happy swimmer. Across the nation, 11 people die every day from unintentional drownings, with nearly 4,000 deaths occurring each year. Research shows that participation in formal swim programs, such as those offered by British Swim School, can reduce the risk of drowning by 88% among children who are most at risk for deaths caused by drowning. However, the risk of drowning isn’t limited to children: a Red Cross survey found that more than half of all Americans (54%) either can’t swim or don’t have the basic swimming skills needed to save themselves in the event of a water emergency. Carlos and Laura understand the importance of swim safety. “Accidents happen in the blink of an eye and your life can be turned upside down,” Carlos insisted. “The word ‘safety’ represents something we need to practice diligently to prevent accidents. Teaching people to practice safe measures in the water, especially children, who are so vulnerable, is so important to us.”
“Carlos and Laura are a wonderful addition to our family of franchisees,” said British Swim School President Ashley Gundlach. “Their goals align with ours, which is to create a fun atmosphere while ensuring our students become safe swimmers. The Loudoun County area is full of children and adults who we’re sure will benefit from our high-quality swim program.”For more information about British Swim School, visit www.britishswimschool.com/loudoun/.
