Yes, You Can Own Swimming

British Swim School Featured in Black Enterprise

Franchise co-owner, Karese Cain of Miami, discusses her journey to joining the business of swimming. Cain and co-owner Maybelline Yurco, have been in business for over two years and now looks to expand.  Cain's journey is incredible. Cain began as a swim instructor with Yurco at a British Swim School location when the idea of being her own boss floated around. The successful location could no longer be in the hands of the current owner, so they offered it to Cain and Yurco. With bravery against the risk, they said yes. Cain's advice is as follows:
  • Do your due diligence
  • If you don’t have experience in a key piece of the business, consider bringing in a partner that has that experience
  • Consider working as an employee first. It’s an excellent way to learn the system and the company
  • Find a franchise that has a great operational support and owners network
  • If an opportunity arises, take it!
