Spring is just around the corner and with the change in seasons comes more accessibility to local pools, lakes, and large bodies of water. British Swim School believes it is never too early to learn water safety tips and start your child in swimming classes as early as possible!

British Swim School just recently expanded to Seattle and Sounds Fun Mom couldn’t wait to feature their overall mission and promote their recommended tips and practiced techniques to prepare for spring. Summer comes faster then we know it and that mean’s daylong adventures to the local pool, lake, and or body of water. With all that great fun comes a great responsibility. Drowning continues to be the leading cause of death in children under 4 years of age and because of this there must be serious devotion to swimming lessons prior to the seasons change. There is no better time then spring, to prepare for the hot, sunny days to come. British Swim School dedicates this season to mastering water survival skills for not only children but their parents as well. Survival depends on the skills and techniques of the child combined with the watchful eye and knowledge of the parent. Did you know that nearly all accidental drowning children can be linked back to the lack of parental supervision and or guidance? CDC advises that “Because drowning occurs quickly and quietly, adults should not be involved in any other distracting activity (such as reading, playing cards, talking on the phone, or mowing the lawn) while supervising children, even if lifeguards are present.” As we have learned, keeping children safe is dependent on a series of moving parts: parental supervision / guidance, clothing precautions, knowing the environment, and most important of all swim lessons.
